Preface About Introductory Agri-Informatics 

Informati0n Technology acts as a tool for direct contribution to agricultural productivity and as an indirect tool for empowering farmers to make informed and quality decisions which will have a positive impact on the way of agriculture and allied activities that are being conducted. Agri- informatics is the application in agriculture with innovative ideas, techniques and scientific knowledge to expand to horizons of the Computer Science and Information and Technology. In other words, it is the information technology applied to management and analysis of agricultural data. It covers the diverse areas ranging from artificial intelligence, Decision support system, Social Information system, Agriculture Expert system, Global Positioning System, Geographical information system, Remote sensing and Information system related to agriculture. 

It is purely a new and unique course which is a mixture of Agricultural Statistics, Agricultural Meteorology and Computer Science, included in the UG syllabus of B.Sc. (H) Agriculture, B.Sc. (H) Forestry, B.Sc.(H) Food nutrition and dietetics and B.Sc. (H) Biotechnology under SAUs in the recommendation of ICAR 5th Deams Committee report in the year 2016-17. This is the first-ever reference books available for this course till now.
